Computer science is my favorite subject, future career goal and intended college major to support my long-term objectives. My passion for the subject dates back to a middle school science fair project. I attempted to create a computer game about safe fishing habits. I faced numerous coding challenges, providing my first exposure to the obstacles and subsequent rewards that come with problem-solving associated with computer programming. I was captivated. One of the judges became my new computer science teacher and guided me through the rest of my middle school years. With her support, I started up a vex robotics team that I both led and served as head programmer. With this early introduction, I developed a thirst for programming that could only be quenched by immersing myself, prompting me to choose a technology magnet high school where I could focus on the computer science pathway. I joined both the school's vex robotics team, ultimately qualifying for state, and the coding club.

My skills and knowledge skyrocketed from these extracurricular engagements and the numerous computer science classes. I also embraced the tremendous opportunity to participate in a county-wide hackathon, where my partner and I taught ourselves basic python and ended up winning the award for most practical application. As I approach the end of my high school career I can truly appreciate how many opportunities I’ve leveraged to fuel my passion and understanding of computer science and reinforced my long-term commitment to this field. I have taken one basic computer science class and two AP classes focused on programming and how computers work. This year I am taking a Cyber Security honors course and complementing it with robotics and engineering. I hold a leadership position similar to a council of equals in Vex Robotics and continue to actively engage in the coding club.
With all the skills I have attained at this illustrious school, I want to strive for a future of new technologies that I had a hand in developing.
